![]() Simply put, duelists are DoT characters, despite how obvious it sounds. Hm, well I'm still just an awful nub in the game (first MMO I've ever played) and I just don't PvP much, mainly since I feel that overall, PvE is f2p friendly whereas pvp is for the p2p ppl (could be wrong, just my experience), although Navea itself is a good place to find ppl to just pvp for fun.Īlso, I've found someone to actually help me understand Duelists since I've heard mixed reactions from all different sides on what kind of dps a duelist is. Well, not easier, but you have the experience to use it well. Oh yeah, what lucastars said, are you still in the 50s? I found from personal experience that once I am 60+, being a duelist becomes a lot easier. I guess what I'm trying to say that Duelists feel like it requires a different take compared to Katar and Tachi and that you should be prepared for the different playstyle the class demands. Lastly, I've seen some builds that provide a relatively high survival rate for Duelists that cap out EVA and still have a beefy DEF/HP. I've also found that since Cross Slash has the ability to take away the aggro from the boss so there's also an awareness of how much DMG you should be dealing that also needs to be taken into account. ![]() ![]() Where as those two pretty much have skills to move them into a favorable position or have a stat setup to keep them alive to land the one-shot, I've found that being a duelist requires a little more effort on movement and more understanding of what skill strings to use. You said it yourself that Duelists are pretty much the DoT specialist, so the play style around it is different from Katar and Tachi. When it comes to Duelist though, I think what you expect from it differs from what you expect from the other two melee DPS classes. Which is why a highly favorable class combo I've been seeing is katar/tachi for their all around usefulness. ![]() Not to mention that by upgrading Brilliant Dragon Flash in the Envoy's Path you get a dash stun and a dash lifesteal, making Ronin pretty effective. Likewise with the Ronin, it's "dash" skill Dark Spear Raid stacks far faster than a Duelist's Cross Slash or Deadly Wink and pretty much is made to set up for a finishing Iado. With Katar, Sparks and Flames does a nice burst and stringing it with a few Shadow Strikes Lotus Strike and pretty much one-shot most monsters you face (not to mention it adds a little healing effect). I've tried out those three DPS classes as well and I can pretty much agree with you that Duelist is pretty much the squishiest I've ever played with. I'm also curious, what are your opinions on Duelists as a class? I guess this is sort of a rant on how I want to play Duelists more but they're just so damned weak in comparison to other classes I'm practically being pushed away from playing them. Why do that when you can subclass a Sorcerer or Wizard, or another equally high-damaging class?Įh. ![]() I suppose Duelists make for an okay subclass since you can stack their DoTs quite fine while you burst things down with another class, but. What do Duelists have? Three unimpressive AoE abilities that don't really offer up any utilities asides from a small heal and an extra stack of DoTs. They pretty much die to bosses in one hit even with Requiem gear.Īnother thing to note is that Ronin and Brawler classes both have a stacking DoT that fits in nicely with their skillset, and both have quite an amazing skillset for both PvP and PvE. Another point is that Duelists are absurdly squishy. Who gives an arse about DoTs when they practically tickle everyone else? I probably haven't been doing too much PvP but I know for a fact that almost every other class can out DPS a Duelist in PvE, and in my experiences in PvP I would die before I even get to my second stack of Cross Slash. Sure one could argue that Duelist have an amazing knack for DoTs but. With the release of the Ronin class and the existence of Ravager and Brawler who both deal an exceptional amount of burst damage, it seems that the Duelist is pretty much the inferior melee DPS class or rather, quite possibly the most inferior DPS class in the game. It's come to my attention that Duelist might actually be a tad bit on the underpowered side. ![]()
